The GMB union’s annual Campaigns for Justice conference features speakers from a range of movements, including Helen Steel speaking about political undercover policing.
A lifelong campaigner for environmental and social justice issues, Helen is perhaps best known for the McLibel trial in which she and another unfunded activist defended themselves against McDonald’s in the longest trial in English history.
She later discovered that her partner John Barker, with whom she had lived, was actually Special Demonstration Squad officer John Dines.
Since then she has played a key role in the campaigning and legal cases that have exposed the shocking abuses committed by Britain’s political secret police.
She will be speaking at 1.45pm on Friday 21 September.
Tickets are free but registration is required.
