SUMMARY:50 Years of Resistance: Conference & Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:As part of the 50 Years of Resistance celebrations\, there will be a conference and exhibition at Conway Hall in London. \nIn March 1968\, the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square was the focus of a demonstration against the Vietnam War. The police response to it led to the formation of the Metropolitan Police’s undercover political unit\, the Special Demonstration Squad. \nWhen the SDS was formed they aimed to ‘shut down’ the movements they were spying on. But despite fifty years of disgusting police tactics\, the movements for positive change are still here and growing\, and have had many successes on the way.
