SUMMARY:United Families and Friends Campaign annual procession
DESCRIPTION:The United Families and Friends Campaign (UFFC) is a national coalition of families and friends of those that have died in the custody of police and prison officers as well as those who are killed in immigration detention and secure psychiatric hospitals in the UK. \nEvery year since 1999\, the UFFC holds an annual remembrance procession from Trafalgar Square to Downing Street to remember loved ones who have died in custody. \nThe UFFC was set up by the families who had lost loved ones at the hands of the state to challenge the injustice in the system. It began as a network of black families because disproportionate numbers of BME people were dying in police custody. It has now grown to include families of all races that die in custody. \nRecent deaths in the US and the Black Lives Matter movement have raised the issue of police killlings of civilians to an international level. Come and support the families of those who have died at the hands of police\, prison and secure medical units in the UK. \nThe UFFC network includes the families of: Leon Patterson\, Roger Sylvester\, Rocky Bennett\, Harry Stanley\, Sean Rigg\, Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah\, Azelle Rodney\, Christopher Alder\, Brian Douglas\, Joy Gardner\, Paul Jemmott\, Ricky Bishop\, Mikey Powell\, Jason McPherson\, Sarah Campbell\, Jimmy Mubenga\, Paul Coker\, Mark Duggan\, Sheku Bayoh\, Olaseni Lewis\, Thomas Orchard and many others. \nMany of these are among the 18 families police have admitted were spied on by undercover officers. We can be confident the real total is much higher. \nThe UFFC annual procession is supported by: 4WardEver\, Migrant Media\, INQUEST\, BirminghamStrong\, Justice 4 All\, Tottenham Rights\, London Campaign Against Police & State Violence\, LARAG\, Newham Monitoring Project (NMP)\, Pan African Society Community Forum\, Defend the Right to Protest\, Joint Enterprise Not Guilty by Association (JENGbA)\, Institute of Race Relations\, Edge Fund\, UNISON\, RMT\, FBU\, UNITE\, UCU. \nWe have been marching for the past 19 years and campaigning for much longer – join us this year! \nAssemble 28 October 12 Noon at Trafalgar Square for a silent procession along Whitehall followed by a noisy protest at Downing Street. \n“We look forward to seeing you – No Justice No Peace” \nShare this:FacebookTwitterTumblrEmailMoreLinkedInRedditPinterestPocketPrint
